The Biocom Institute Technician Certification (BioTC) is the result of a unique collaboration between public and private sector partners. Known as the BioTC Collaborative, this partnership brings together leading innovators and employers in the Life Science industry, educational institutions and instructors, and workforce development experts led by the Verdugo Workforce Development Board and the Verdugo Jobs Center.

Prolacta Bioscience® Inc. is a privately held, global life sciences company dedicated to Advancing the Science of Human Milk® to improve the health of critically ill, premature infants. Glendale Community College is a dynamic institution with more than 25,000 students. They are enrolled in college-credit at the Verdugo Campus, continuing education at the Garfield Campus, community services classes held throughout the community, and the Professional Development Center (PDC) located in Montrose. The college serves an ethnically diverse student body with no single group forming a majority.

The VWDB is a unique public/private partnership between business, community, educational and labor leaders who combine expertise and resources to identify, invest in and support evidence-based initiatives that strengthen our businesses, connect community members to sustainable career pathways, and deliver measurable results. Through its comprehensive Verdugo Jobs Center (VJC), the VWDB provides the education and training necessary to create the competitive human capital required for business sustained growth and industry leadership. Biocom Institute is a non-profit organization focused on developing and promoting a skilled and diverse pipeline of talent to accelerate the growth of California’s life science ecosystem. Lending its recognized name to the BioTC credential, Biocom Institute connects BioTC recipients to its hundreds of members representing Life Science employees through its web-based career portal. biocominstitute.org

Los Angeles Mission College serves the educational needs of students in the San Fernando Valley. Los Angeles Mission College is committed to maintaining high academic standards, promoting student success, and creating opportunities for life-long learning. Its Biotech Program leads the effort to create the qualified biotechnicians that employers demand. The hub of the BioTC assessment instrument, LA Mission College administers the exam and issues the digital credential to students. lamission.edu

Serving job seekers, youth and businesses, VJC provides no-cost job placement assistance, career services, support resources and business solutions to help individuals and employers reach their goals and thrive. Using a web-based portal, the VJC, in partnership with Biocom, matches students who have earned the BioTC credential with employers, and provides career services for participating students. VJC also provides incentives for employers who hire BioTC recipients including: internships and externships with salaries paid by VJC and salary reimbursements. verdugoworkforce.com
